Quebec provincial police have confirmed two people swept away on a flooded Quebec river are firefighters.
The river is in Quebec’s Charlevoix region, around 100 kilometres northeast of Quebec City, where up to 60 millimetres of rain fell within a 24-hour period.
The pair were caught up in the swift current while helping two residents.
Meanwhile, helicopters and a Hercules aircraft from 8 Wing Trenton’s 424 Search and Rescue Squadron have joined police, firefighters, and the Coast Guard in a search for the missing firefighters.
