Prince Edward County is setting up a number of events to mark Earth Day this year.
Earth Day began in 1970 to raise awareness of environmental action.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says, “Earth Day is a time we can come together and renew our commitment to the responsible use and protection of the natural environment. An exciting slate of activities is planned for Earth Day this year and it is my hope that people across the County will participate.”
Events planned in Prince Edward County include the Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up Day, in support of Quinte Trash Bash Day.
There will also be a composter giveaway at 75 County Road One, next to the dome, while supplies last.
Mulch giveaways are also planned.
There will be a couple of Earth Week talk events and a Tree Seedling Giveaway while supplies last.
To wrap up the week, a Large Item Swap is planned.
Residents within the settlement areas are encouraged to place their lightly used large items at the curb for other residents to take and continue to use.
