It appears the Quinte region real estate market is still in a “cooling off” period after a red-hot couple of years.
According to the Quinte and District Association of Realtors 267 homes were sold last month, down 34% from August of last year.
So far this year 2,572 homes have been sold, 25% fewer than in the first eight months of 2021.
The benchmark price in August, the level at which half the homes sold were lower and half higher, was $562,000, up 3.6% from August last year.
The average price of homes sold in August was almost $613,000, an increase of 2.8%.
On a year to date basis the average price of a house sold in the Quinte region was $704,476, almost 16% higher than in the first eight months of 2021.
