The Hastings Prince Edward Humane Society is looking for funding.
The humane society, in a delegation to Hastings County Finance Property and Personnel Committee, requested $250,000 to help support the new shelter on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road.
The project to construct the new shelter costs a total of $6 million, and the humane society is looking to fund raise $1.2 million to reach that goal and finish the project.
Greg Sudds, Chair of the society’s Capital Campaign, says they’re almost there but that the last leg of the journey is the hardest.
“It is our goal to raise the remaining funds by the end of this year and your support will go a long way in achieving this,” said Sudds. “There is no denying that this new home is a much needed and long overdue resource for our two counties, something we can all be proud of.”
The committee referred the request to upcoming 2023 budget discussions.
