The Trenton Golden Hawks are just days away from opening their training camp and their latest signings are for the coach’s office.
Head Coach/General Manager Jerome Dupont has announced the hiring of Jeff Angelidis and Kris Newbury.
“What more can you say about the coaching resume of Angelidis? He knows coaching and management inside and out and brings a wealth of experience to the bench.”
Angelidis is coming off the ’21-’22 season, where he was the Coach/GM for the Georgetown Raiders (OJHL). The Milton native played in the league (formerly OPJHL) from 1994-1998, was a student/athlete in the NCAA ranks, and played professionally in North America and Europe. His coaching career has taken him to the GTHL, the GOJHL and time in the OJHL with Milton, the Toronto Jr Canadiens, and Georgetown.
Kris Newbury has spent several years in the Quinte region. Newbury was a member of the 1999 OHL Champion Belleville Bulls, before a long professional career, which included stops with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers. He has since moved back to the region working as an instructor at World Elite Training.
“Kris was with the G-Hawks last year and that will be good for the returning players,” says Dupont. “Having nearly 20 years professional experience will prove invaluable. I look forward to working with him further.”
Over the coming weekend, dozens of players will be reporting to the Golden Hawks training camp, looking to earn a roster spot for the ’22-’23 season.
