The Fire Service Women of Ontario have chosen Belleville to hold their Training and Education Symposium this year.
The event will take place between October 20 and 23.
Two hundred participating women will engage with hands-on training, National Fire Protection Association certification courses, and classroom training for all aspects of fire services.
“I am a member of the Board of Directors and extremely proud that we have selected the City of Belleville to host the first in-person training since COVID-19,” said Belleville Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services Monique Belair. “As an organization we are accountable for advocating for a gender-equitable workforce. We have a role to play in fostering supportive professional networks and personal relationships amongst women. This annual symposium plays a crucial role in achieving this.”
This is the first in-person symposium event held since COVID-19.
