Choosing to make a legacy gift to the hospital is an investment in a healthier future for the community. It was this desire to create a lasting impact that inspired G. Noriene Frederick to make a bequest in her will before she passed in 2019. As an only child and regular patient of the healthcare system throughout her life, Noriene’s estate will serve as a lasting statement about her own generosity. Today, the Belleville General Hospital Foundation received a residual cheque of $58,224.57 for the purchase of medical equipment within the hospital.
The generous gift forms part of a much larger estate contribution of $308,224 which will allow the Belleville General Hospital Foundation to purchase priority equipment as outlined by Quinte Healthcare.
“It’s never too late to plan for the people and cause that you care about,’ commented Executive Director Steven Cook. ‘If you are thinking about the future and leaving a legacy to help provide exceptional health care we are here to advise donors.”
Statistics suggest that over 56% of Canadians do not have a will. Bequests made through a will are often a way of donors making a substantial contribution that could not be made during their lifetime. Noriene’s estate distribution will help more than 10 beneficiaries across the region, ensuring her caring spirit lives on and benefit generations to come.
