There are now three candidates running for mayor in Quinte West in this fall’s municipal election.
Karen Sharpe, currently a councillor in Sidney Ward, has filed papers to run against Jim Harrison who previously announced he is seeking re-election.
Sharpe has been on council for the last two terms sitting on several committees including the Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee, the Agricultural advisory Committee and is currently Chair of Finance and Corporate Services.
In a statement Sharpe says as mayor, her priority would be to build upon a vibrant, safe and healthy community while remaining fiscally responsible to taxpayers.
And a familiar name has also filed papers to run for mayor once again.
Claude du-Lude has run unsuccessfully for Mayor in Quinte West and formerly Trenton several times.
In the race for council, there have yet to be any candidates step up to run for any of the five seats in Ward 1 (Trenton).
Allan DeWitt and Don Kuntze are running for re-election in Ward 2 (Sidney).
Longtime Belleville councillor Egerton Boyce, who now lives in Quinte West, has also filed papers to run in Ward 2 where there are four seats.
Incumbents David McCue and Jim Alyea are both running again in Ward 3 (Murray.
Ward three has two seats.
There are no candidates yet in Ward 4 (Frankford), where there is just one seat up for grabs.
The municipal election is October 24.
