Local cases of COVID-19 have risen again as have hospitalizations. Meanwhile, fourth dose booster shots seem to be appealing to many people.
In its weekly update, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reports 106 active high-risk cases, up from 83 last week.
Nine people are in hospital with three in intensive care.
Last Tuesday, Public Health reported just two people in hospital and no one in the ICU.
No additional deaths have been reported.
The dashboard shows seven outbreaks in high-risk settings, the same as last week however, two outbreaks were declared over and two new ones were named.
It appears the province expanding eligibility of fourth dose COVID vaccinations may have spurred many people to get another jab.
There were 1,231 people who received a fourth shot since last week’s report.
Second boosters have now been delivered to 26,491 HPE residents.
In comparison, there were 176 first, second and third doses combined given out last week.
