The Prince Edward County OPP has charged a driver following a single vehicle collision overnight.
On July 15, 2022 at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Prince Edward County OPP responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on County Road 14, just west of Doxsee Road. Responding officers observed a male walking south of the collision with visible injuries. When questioned, the male fled on foot and was apprehended moments later. He was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Prince Edward County Detachment for further testing where his blood alcohol level was determined to be above the legal limit.
Nicholas Carroll, 37 years old from Prince Edward County, has been charged with the following offences:
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Resist peace officer
· Obstruct peace officer
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
· Fail to notify change of address
· Fail to identify self
· Novice driver – BAC above zero
· Fail to report accident
· Fail to remain
· Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver; and
· Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 15, 2022. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
