Belleville Councillor Garnet Thompson has announced he will seek a fifth term.
Thompson announced Monday he will run again for a Ward 1 seat in this fall’s municipal election.
Thompson, who was first elected in 2006, says he wants to help the city meet the demands of rapid growth and expansion.
He says his emphasis will be on better accessibility to city parks and buildings, more outdoor recreational facilities such as parks and walkways, and creating affordable housing for our growing population.
Thompson is one of four current councillors who have filed their papers.
Fellow Ward 1 Councillor Carol Feeney is running again as are both Ward 2 representatives, Councillors Paul Carr and Bill Sandison.
Also seeking one of the Ward 1 seats will be Lisa Anne Chatten, Barbara Enright-Miller, Nick Boretski, Margaret Seu and Jeremy T. Davis.
Carr and Sandison are the only two declared candidates so far in Ward 2.
There are two candidates for mayor at this point – incumbent Mitch Panciuk and former mayor, Neil Ellis.
