Belleville Police investigating what they believe is a random attack in the west end of the city.
Police were called to the area of Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Highway 2 just after 10 a.m. on Sunday where the victim reported being assaulted by a male armed with a knife.
The suspect fled on foot in the woods east of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road.
The Emergency Response Unit, K9 Unit and a police drone conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The victim was treated in hospital for superficial wounds.
The suspect is described as a white male with tanned skin, 6 feet tall, thin build, long dark scraggly hair with a red/white piece of cloth hanging from it, wearing blue jeans and a grey ripped shirt.
Police, who believe this to be an isolated incident, continue to investigate and are asking for the public’s assistance.
