The Quinte West OPP has charged three people after multiple portable washrooms were set ablaze at Centennial Park.
On June 7, 2022, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a report of a fire at Centennial Park in Trenton. Officers arrived and discovered several portable washrooms on fire at various locations throughout the park.
As a result of the investigation, three people were arrested.
Brandon Smith, 19 years old of Quinte West, Trent Septon, 21 years old of Prince Edward County, and a 17-year-old male from Belleville were charged with the following offences:
- Arson – damage to property; and
- Mischief over $5,000
The accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a later date.
The identity of the youth has been withheld as it is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
