The Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South says COVID-19 and the cost of living will be the main challenges for 2022.
Philip Lawrence spoke to Quinte News and said the challenge for many in his riding and across the country will be to make ends meet.
“Our combination of huge increases in gas, food, and housing will make things tough.”
He says it is not just the cost of inflation, but the other financial strains on the system he is worried about.
“When you combine our debt and deficit, it means we are borrowing record amounts of money. Things are not looking good.”
Currently every person in Ontario has about $60,000 in government debt.
Lawrence added a hope for 2022. He says he wants to continue to serve residents of the riding, and says he was humbled by the support he received in last year’s federal election.
