A high ranking officer in the Canadian Air Force has been removed from a post overseas following reports of “inappropriate comments.”
The CBC is reporting that Lt.-Col Philip Marcus was sent back to Canada from his post in Kuwait as commanding officer of the air task force for Operation Impact on December 7, a role he started in November.
The Department of National Defence wouldn’t comment on the nature of the comments as the investigation is ongoing but described them as inappropriate and that they “resulted in a loss in confidence in the member’s ability to effectively lead and conduct the duties associated with his appointment as a commanding officer.”
Marcus is currently working at CFB 8 Wing Trenton as a staff officer at the Royal Canadian Aerospace Warfare Centre.
