A one-way road in Picton is returning to two-way traffic.
During Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, council discussed an ongoing process to open the stretch of Barker Street between Bowery Street to Paul Street to two-way traffic.
Talks of opening two-way traffic on the street began in February. The road was identified as wide enough to support two-way traffic, and municipal staff consulted with local residents and stakeholders about the potential change.
During a discussion on the motion, an amendment was proposed to make the change to two-way traffic part of upcoming road reconstruction in the area, and to maintain one-way traffic until that project is complete. That amendment passed after brief debate.
The committee voted to approve the plans as amended, and forwarded it to next session of council for final approval.
