Due to COVID the Belleville Senators haven’t played in more than a week and it could be more than a week before they play again.
The B-Sens’ annual Boxing Day game against the Toronto Marlies at Scotiabank Arena next Sunday is the latest casualty of AHL protocal. It’s not just Belleville. The Marlies are also locked down as are other teams in the AHL. That means the earliest Belleville returns to action is one week from tonight (Dec. 28) at home to Syracuse, and that game could be in doubt as a minimum ten day isolation period could be required.
In an interview with Le Droit newspaper, Marc Brassard Mann said as many as 18 players and staff have tested positive for COVID from a recent extended road trip.
With the six postponements to date, including tonight’s (Tuesday’s) tilt with Utica, the B-Sens will have played just 22 of 28 games scheduled. That leaves 50 games over the final four months to be played.
