Belleville Police responded to 174 calls for service over the weekend between December 17, 2021 at 5 a.m. and December 20, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Mischief
On December 17, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., police attended an east end address regarding a possible break and enter in progress. On arrival, police were able to locate the suspect attempting to flee in a vehicle. Upon further investigation, police determined that the accused, 37-year-old John Kort of Richmond Hill, had broken the front window of the residence, but he was not trying to gain entry. Kort was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where we has later released with a court date of January 13, 2022.
Shoplifting
On December 19, 2021, at 10:40 a.m., police attended a Millennium Parkway business regarding a theft. Police were advised that a female had been observed filling her purse with merchandise in the store and attempting to leave without paying. The female was located, and the merchandise was recovered. Jessica Mclean, 41, of Belleville, was charged with theft under $5000. She will appear in court on February 16, 2022.
Impaired Driver
On December 19, 2021, at 8:55 p.m., police were called to the area of Herchimer Avenue regarding a possible impaired driver. Police were advised that a male was laying on the ground next to his truck and seemed to be intoxicated. Prior to police arrival, the male left driving erratically. Police located the male a short time later and he was arrested for impaired driving. Robin Harvey, 60, of Belleville, was charged with impaired driving. He as later released with a court date of January 20, 2022.
