Quinte West OPP have arrested and charged a suspect in a vehicle theft.
According to police they were called to Victoria Avenue in Frankford Tuesday at 10:20 a.m. for reports of a stolen pickup truck.
Police say the complainant saw someone stealing the truck and attempted to stop him before being dragged for two blocks, suffering minor injuries.
The accused is alleged to have driven the truck onto a walking trail where they almost hit several workers and a pedestrian.
Officers found the accused after the vehicle was damaged and unable to cross a narrow pedestrian bridge.
As a result 33-year-old Adam Dempsey-Elhouni of Quinte West is facing charges of:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
