It will be Mads Soggard in goal Wednesday for the Belleville Senators, when they meet the leagues (AHL) number one team.
The BSens are in Utica to take on the Comets for the 2nd time this season.
Belleville is the new home of Matt Murray, at least for now, after he was sent down by Ottawa.
Head Coach Troy Mann talked to Quinte News about the decision to start Soggard over the 2-time Stanley Cup Champion.
“Two days of practice is not quite enough. (Murray) He will have a real good goalie session after the morning skate (Wednesday), he will have another practice Friday, morning skate Saturday. I think that is probably the better decision.”
Mann says he, along with Goaltending Coach Justin Peters and Murray were on the same page with the decision.
“I wanted to make sure all three of us were involved with it. That is something I felt strongly about, that we go with Saturday, but if he said he was good for tonight (Wednesday), then we would have went in that direction. I think that all three of us were on the same page He will be ready to go on Saturday. ”
CJBQ has the call starting at 6:50 pm Wednesday for Deerhaven Farm and Garden and Mackay Insurance.
