There were scary times for a woman and her child Thursday in the west end of Belleville.
City police say that shortly before 3 in the afternoon a man banged on the front door of a residence and then broke a window and got into the home.
A woman and child escaped safely.
A 39-year-old man from the Durham region was arrested and charged with domestic assault, mischief, and two counts of breach of probation.
He is in custody for a bail hearing.
