This is a fall season bringing a smile to the farmers of Eastern Ontario.
“It was a great spring.”
“The crops went in early.”
“You won’t hear complaints about crops this year.”
Those are the words Lloyd Crowe, Director for District 13 of the Grain Farmers of Ontario gave to Quinte News on this year’s crops.
Crowe says they are combining the soybeans and planting the winter wheat right now.
He adds, “It’s the best I’ve ever seen.”
“The wheat crop is good. Good prices too. Soybeans on now. Same thing. Just a pleasure to do.”
Crowe also points to the corn crop and repeated it’s “the very best we’ve seen or ever will see.”
“We’re feeling very blessed as farmers this year. The corn crop. I’ve been saying it’s the best that we’ve seen or maybe ever seen at my age. You’d think we were in Iowa.”
