One person was seriously burned in an apartment house fire on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory Thanksgiving Monday.
Mohawk firefighters were called out to 68 Sadie’s Lane around 9:45 a.m. after reports of flames in a bedroom.
A female was taken to Belleville General Hospital and transferred to a burn unit with serious burns to her face and torso.
No one else was injured.
The structure was an over century old two-storey wood frame house that had been converted into apartments.
Mohawk Fire Chief Scott Maracle says fire damage was limited to part of the house, with the remainder suffering smoke damage.
The cause is under investigation.
