The Picton Pirates took at 4-2 win over the Port Hope Panthers in Junior C. PJHL action Saturday to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Pirates opened the scoring just five minutes into the game with a solo effort from Noah Brant.
Later in the first Landon McLellan added to the lead with a goal of his own to bring the game to 2-0 heading into the first intermission.
Five minutes into the second frame the Panthers’ Logan Kelly cut the lead in half with a tally and minutes later Will Perley-Fry knotted the game at two goals apiece.
Mid-way though the third period the Pirates finally broke the deadlock when Brant tallied his second goal of the game with assists from McLellan and Aidan MacDonnell.
With under a minute left in the game Picton sealed the deal when McLellan added his second goal of the night, and sixth on the season, to bring the score to 4-2.
McLellan finished the night with three points, two goals and an assist, and Brant added two of his own to help Picton stay undefeated so far this season.
Elsewhere in Junior C. action the Frankford Huskies continued their chase for their first ever win.
They played host to the Amherstview Jets but couldn’t manage the win as the Jets prevailed by a score of 6-1.
Elsewhere, the Campbellford Rebels took on the Napanee Raiders in an effort to 2-1 on the year.
The Rebels were down one goal after two periods and it would prove to be too much as the Raiders ran away with it, winning by a final score of 7-2.
In Junior A. OJHL action the Trenton Golden Hawks looked to stay hot as they hit the road to take on the Toronto Junior Canadiens.
Trenton was coming off of a 5-2 win over the Lindsay Muskies on Friday night and were looking to improve to 4-0 on the year.
They would succeed in the road effort, taking the game 2-0 and remaining undefeated.
