It’s a new dawn in Frankford as the community officially welcomed the newly minted Junior C Frankford Huskies last night in their first home game of the season.
And then the Picton Pirates came to town.
Last night’s showdown would prove to be a disappointing one for Frankford as they dropped the contest 6-1.
Pirates forward Landon McLellan opened the scoring three minutes into the first.
The Huskies would answer to knot the game at one goal apiece but before the period ended the Pirates regained the lead with a goal from Hunter Matthysse.
Picton added to the lead in the second period to bring it to 3-1 and kept their foot on the gas in the third.
Third frame goals from Devin Morrison, McLellan again and Nate Brant sealed the deal on the 6-1 Picton win.
The Huskies take to the road Sunday to play the Amherstview Jets while the Pirates will have to wait until Thursday when they play the Campbellford Rebels.
