It was a great weekend for a walk and the 25 blue-shirted people out pounding the pavement in Belleville did much more than just get some fresh air and exercise.
The 25 people taking part in the Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk raised over $30,000 with all of it going to support cancer patients at Belleville General Hospital.
Organizer Lisa McAuley started the walk seven years ago in honour of her late mother Gaetane.
The walkers covered a distance of 53 kilometres on both Saturday and Sunday.
McAuley said, “The 53 kilometres is to remember 53 years of light, love and laughter my mom brought to everyone who knew her.”
