It is McHappy Day.
McDonald’s donates a portion of all menu items sold, to Ronald McDonald Houses and some local charities.
Ken Schmidt owns the McDonald’s in Quinte West, Brighton, and Campbellford and says because there is not a Ronald McDonald House locally, we need it more than those who have one in their backyard.
“All the people that are going to Ronald McDonald Houses aren’t from those communities. They’re not from Ottawa, they’re not from Toronto, they’re not from Hamilton. They’re people outside those communities that need a place to stay with their sick child when they go to one of those hospitals.”
Bob Doyle, who owns the McDonald’s in Belleville and Madoc, says they are donating the funds to RMHC and The Children’s Foundation, the same as Schmidt’s locations. Dan Doyle (no relation to Bob Doyle) who owns the McDonald’s in Picton and Napanee says their entire donation will go to R.M.H.C
You can also purchase a McHappy Day heart for a $2 donation and receive a special message from an R.M.H.C. family, or a celebrity ambassador.
About $66 million has been donated to Ronald McDonald Houses and local Canadian charities since 1977.
