The Northumberland Players are receiving a big provincial funding boost to carry out a pop-up theatre project this summer.
It was announced Friday that the theatre group will receive $81,400 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The money will go towards equipment including portable lighting, sound and recording equipment, sanitation equipment, plexiglass barriers and ventilation equipment to deliver outdoor performances from late July into late September.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group halted for the first time in its 43-year history in 2020.
The performances, which will be on the lawn at the Cobourg Yacht Club and the Lion’s Pavilion in Victoria Park, include two staged readings of “The Graduate” by Terry Johnson, “Love Letters” by A.R.Gurney, and two one-act plays, “Laundry and Bourbon” and “Lone Star”, both written by James McClure.
