One of the largest golf tournaments every year is getting set to tee off Friday in Belleville.
The Rotary Club of Belleville’s Rotary Loves Kids Golf Tournament goes at Black Bear and Trillium Woods throughout the day.
Tournament Chair Dave Allen says this tournament has been going for 19 years.
“There all tee times because we can’t do shotgun start (Covid protocols). There’s a lunch at the turn and when they come off the course then eat their dinner and the go home. At Black Bear we have 97 (golfers) and the last count at Trillium was 75.”
“In the last 18 years, we’ve raised over $1.6 million. There’s really three major areas that we provide support. Camp Merrywood, the Easter Seals Camp – 10% of the funds go to the Quinte Children’s Foundation – then we provide support to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation for special diagnostic equipment for children.”
Auction items, prizes, food, drink, goodie bags and contests are all part of the day.
Rotary Loves Kids Organizing Committee member Cassandra Bonn says the goal is to surpass the $100,000 mark.
