Two roads projects in Brighton are going ahead thanks to some federal funding.
The Canada Community-Building Fund, formerly the Federal Gas Tax program is providing $1.3 million towards the projects.
Northumberland–Peterborough South MP Phillip Lawrence joined Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander, members of Brighton Council and Public Works staff Monday to announce the projects.
The reconstruction of Telephone Road from County Road 30 to County Road 26 will include base improvements, drainage improvements and a new asphalt driving surface.
The second project involves sidewalk repairs and replacements that will meet accessibility requirements, improving and promoting a walkable community.
Mayor Ostrander says council has set an aggressive roads and sidewalk replacement program to ensure they are meeting the needs of residents and helping to develop a safe and walkable community.
