The City of Quinte West will wait for more information before considering a change to its Official Plan to allow a big new housing development to move forward.
The owners of 12 hectares, or about 30 acres, of vacant land along Loyalist Parkway near Second Dug Hill Road in Trenton hope to develop the property with 45 low density and 255 medium density residential units on city water and sewer.
The low density units would either be single family or semi-detached houses and the medium density would take the form of townhouses and low rise apartment buildings.
Municipal water and sewer is available but a consultant continues to study whether there is enough capacity in the system to properly service the housing.
Until that information is available no action will be taken on the proposal.
