The newest entry into the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League, the Tweed Oil Kings has announced the coaching staff for its inaugural season.
Tweed General Manager John Desjardins says retired paramedic Troy Ward has been named Head Coach. Tom Clement and Lou Crawford will be Associate Coaches.
Desjardins, Ward and Clement know each other well. They were teammates with the former Madoc MTM Hurricanes Jr. C club.
Ward also played under the guidance of Bob Hartley with the Hawksbury Hawks of the former Central Junior “C” Hockey League. Hartley went on to win a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001.
Clement coached Tweed to the All Ontario Minor Hockey Championships.
Lou Crawford coached the Belleville Bulls to their lone Ontario Hockey League Championship in 1999. He is a pro hockey scout for the Vancouver Canucks.
Desjardins also announced that Mike Genereaux will be the teams trainer. Genereaux is a retired paramedic and was also the trainer for the MTM Hurricanes Jr. C club.
The Tweed Oil Kings will begin play in the 12 team EOSHL in the fall.
