MPP Randy Hillier, and others are being investigated for their involvement in a rally in Belleville on Friday.
Monday morning on the Lorne Brooker Show, Belleville Police Chief Mike Callaghan discussed the anti-lockdown rally at West Zwick’s Park.
Chief Callaghan: “We’ve commenced an investigation, we have identified some individuals, which we will be pursuing charges this week.”Lorne Brooker: “Does MPP Hillier … did he break the law by speaking on that stage?”Chief Callaghan: “He is one of the individuals under investigation yes.”
Upwards of 200 people gathered Friday afternoon to hear from the Independent provincial member, who is one of the leaders of a group called No More Lockdowns, which includes local MP Derek Sloan, and PPC Leader Maxime Bernier.
Below are the government rulings currently in place for public gatherings
You are not allowed to gather indoors or outdoors with anyone you do not live with, except one other person from outside the household that lives alone.
Limit close contact to only members of your household (the people you live with). If you live alone, you can have close contact with only one other household.
You must stay at least two metres apart from everyone else and wear a mask or face covering during permitted events such as a wedding, funeral or religious service, rite or ceremony.
If you do not follow these rules for gatherings:

organizers may be fined a minimum of $10,000

each attendee may receive a $750 ticket

enforcement personnel may break up the gathering or temporarily close the premises
