The award winners from the recent Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Week have been announced.
This year’s Kindness Citizen of the Year is Reta Dobbs of Quinte West, who has been a longtime volunteer and supporter of Fixed Fur Life, making custom greeting cards to help raise thousands of dollars for the cause.
She’s also supported the Stirling Legion Poppy Fund and donated crafts and supplies to a local church group that helps impoverished families and kids, while also spending time during the pandemic by supporting a local business, through organizing giveaways and contests.
Organizers also announced Albert College Student Danna Valdes Bustamante as the 2021 High School Kindness Citizen of the Year “for being kind, thoughtful and inclusive”.
$150 VARAK bursaries were also awarded to grade 11 student Alisha Haseeb of Eastside Secondary School and grade 12 student Cody-Rae Fowler from Prince Edward Collegiate Institute.
