The routine immunizations in Hastings Prince Edward counties are not being carried out as usual because of the demands of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
Officials with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health tell Quinte News that immunization priority is being given to the COVID-19 vaccine.
The health unit intake line will not be accepting phone calls regarding routine immunizations and they will not be given in schools.
Public health officials are encouraging parents and guardians to speak to their health care providers about routine immunizations.
Following is a statement from HPE Pubic Health:
Due to the demand of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out, routine immunization appointments are not being booked at the present time and the HPEPH Immunization Intake line will not be accepting phone calls regarding routine immunizations. We thank the public for their patience and understanding as we prioritize the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their health care provider about routine immunizations.
