School immunizations, cut short by COVID-19 last spring, are getting back on track.
As the school season adapted to the pandemic, public health officials were unable to complete the second dose of the grade seven immunizations that occur every spring under provincial regulations.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Manager of Communicable Diseases Bill Sherlock tells Quinte News his department is in the process of contacting students who didn’t get their second dose of Hepatitis B and Hunan Pepaloma Virus vaccines.
He said no suspensions were issued because of COVID-19.
Sherlock says hundreds of students need the second dose.
There are also about 600 students that have immunization records that are not complete.
They will be contacted by public health during this upcoming school year.
These include high school students.
Sherlock emphasized there are no suspensions.
