Members of the Peterborough OPPP and emergency crews were called to assist at an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collision in North Kawartha Township Sunday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m.
The collision occurred on an unmarked trail near Anstruther Lake Road.
The 76-year-old driver from Peterborough, Ontario lost control of their ATV while travelling down a steep embankment and collided with several trees.
The victim died as a result of the injuries suffered in the collision.
The victim was wearing a helmet.
The deceased has been transported to The Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto for a post mortem examination.
OPP members trained in collision reconstruction attended to measure and document the scene.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
