Northumberland OPP are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a church 10 kilometres west of Port Hope early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the Old Wesleyville United Church on Lakeshore Road in Wesleyville at approximately 5:40 a.m. Saturday for reports of a fire.
Firefighters from the Port Hope Fire Department were able to put the blaze out and according to the OPP the interior of the structure near the entrance is significantly damaged.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate and OPP are holding the scene.
