There were another 14 new cases of COVID-19 reported Friday in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, bringing the total number of active cases to 89.
Also two new cases were reported by the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
As far as Hastings Prince Edward counties were concerned, seven of the latest people discovered infected were in Quinte West, four in Belleville, one in Deseronto, and two in Centre Hastings.
Two people are being treated in hospital with two in the Intensive Care Unit at Belleville General. Another outbreak was reported Friday as well, listed in the category “school/childcare facility”.
The outbreak involved two cases and was located in Belleville. There are now three active outbreaks in Hastings-Prince Edward, two in Belleville and one in Quinte West.
Many of the new COVID cases reported in the past week, numbering around 100, have been caused by the Variants of Concern which are more transmissible mutations of the novel coronavirus.
In total there have been 41 Variants of Concern discovered in the two counties since the pandemic began.
Updates are not provided on statutory holidays in Northumberland County.
