If Belleville council decides to replace the vacant seat left by Councillor Ryan Williams’ resignation it should be a much quicker and quieter process than occurred over the holiday period after the death of Councillor Pat Culhane.
Quinte News asked all council members, with the exception of Williams, whether they would support the person next in line from the results of the last local election.
That person would be Carol Feeney and there would be unanimous support for her appointment should someone make the motion and get a seconder.
And Councillor Bill Sandison tells Quinte News he would be pleased to make the motion to appoint Feeney.
Council could also conduct a by-election or leave the seat vacant but that would seem unlikely as both of those ideas were rejected a few months ago.
