After clearing waivers from the NHL last week and joining the Belleville Senators for one game on the weekend, the Ottawa Senators have traded defenceman Christian Wolanin to the Los Angeles Kings.
The 26 year-old, former fourth round draft pick, was sent to LA in exchange for 24 year-old forward Mike Amadio.
Amadio was LA’s third round pick in 2014 and has played in 168 NHL games, notching 39 points (16 goals and 23 assists), along with 26 penalty minutes.
He’s also played in 130 American Hockey League games with the Ontario Reign, where he’s put up 104 points (35 goals and 69 assists).
He joins the Senators and former Brampton Battalion teammate Nick Paul and will fill in some depth up front, after the departure of forward Filip Chlapik earlier this month.
Wolanin leaves the Senators after putting up five goals and 13 assists in 58 career NHL games, while registering eight goals and 24 assist in 50 American Hockey League games with Belleville.
He also holds the B-Sens franchise records for most points (31) and assists (24) by a defenceman in a season.
The Senators didn’t immediately say whether or not Amadio would join the NHL club, or be assigned to Belleville.
