A Belleville man has been charged with impaired driving after city police say he blew more than double the legal limit of blood alcohol content.
An officer stopped a car for speeding on Dundas Street West, near Avonlough Road, just after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and smelled a strong scent of alcohol coming from the driver.
Police say the man’s first breath sample came back at a .18 level, while a second sample came back at .17.
The legal limit is .08.
Fifty-one-year-old Brent Newman was charged and will appear in court next month.
