Ingersoll sees investment in broadband, and supports for people suffering from mental health and addictions issues, domestic violence and racism as positives as well.
However, according to Ingersoll the one thing missing in the budget was a program providing paid sick days. Because of financial concerns, Ingersoll says many people continue to show up for work even when not feeling well.
“Missing a day or two or two weeks of work because you’re home with COVID can put them in a crisis.”
Ingersoll says the lack of a provincial program offering paid sick days runs counter to the government’s claims that their priorities are keeping people safe and promoting a healthy economy with healthy people.
