It should be noticeably darker in cities around the world Saturday night.
Earth Hour occurs Saturday night between 8:30 and 9:30 and many municipalities, including those in
the Quinte region, will be shutting off the lights for the hour if not longer.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to do the same.
Earth Hour has been in existence since 2007 and is meant to increase awareness about the effects of energy use on nature and the climate.
Millions of people get involved in Earth Hour in over 180 countries and territories.
