A Trenton man is facing multiple charges related to a human trafficking investigation by Durham Regional Police.
The DRPS Human Trafficking Unit started looking into the case in July of last year, after a 36-year-old woman told them that the suspect had hired her to work for him, as an escort in the sex trade.
On Thursday, police arrested 23-year-old Cody Butler and charged him with:
- material benefit from sexual services
- material benefit trafficking a person over 18
- procurement/exercise control over 18
- trafficking a person by recruiting.
Butler was held in custody for a bail hearing and no other details of the case have been released by authorities.
