The Belleville Police Service responded to 57 calls for service from January 26, 2021 at 5 a.m. to January 27, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Domestic Assault
On January 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., police received a call to Front Street regarding an assault. The victim advised that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend who had fled the area. The male, a 41-year-old Belleville man, was known to police, and he was located at 9 p.m. walking on Octavia Street. He was charged with one count of assault and one count of failing to comply with a release order. He will appear in court February 22, 2021. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
Arrest of warrants
On January 27, 2021 at 1:50 a.m., police received a call about a disturbance at a west end address. Police arrived and learned that a male and female had been arguing. The male had fled prior to police arrival however police followed his footprints to a nearby residence. The male was identified, and police learned that he had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault, break and enter, mischief, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. The male, a 42-year-old from Belleville was arrested and held for bail on January 27. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
Domestic Assault
On January 27, 2021, at 2:50 a.m., police attended a domestic disturbance call at a west end apartment building. On arrival police spoke with the involved female who advised that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend while putting their infant child to bed. Police located the male and arrested him for domestic assault. A 35-year-old Belleville man was charged with one count of assault and held for a bail hearing on January 27. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
