The COVID-19 pandemic has caused hospital budgets at Ontario hospitals to be thrown out of whack because of extra expenses and declining revenues.
Officials at Quinte Health Care are approaching their 2021/22 operating budget conservatively and are projecting a deficit of $4.1 million.
But that’s just a projection and QHC’s Chief Financial Officer Brad Harrington said Tuesday he expects the province will come through to help hospitals.
“Approximately 50% of our incremental pandemic expenditures have been reimbursed to date and there’s no concern in regards to that continuing going forward and eventually catching up to full reimbursement.”
Quinte Health Care’s operating budget is expected to be approved in late March.
