Another move has been made in the process leading up to a brand new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital in Picton.
Quinte Health Care’s Board of Directors will submit its preliminary architectural and electrical/mechanical designs to the provincial government for approval.
Meanwhile, previous approvals from the province have taken longer than expected and Board Chair David MacKinnon says pandemic or not, more public consultation is needed and soon.
“There’s certainly a recognition that we have and need to have some sort of community engagement to talk about the timing and the new elements of design and construction planning that we’re talking about.”
Because of delays the completion of the new hospital has been pushed back two years to the fall of 2027.
Recently the provincial government announced it had set aside $100 million for the project.
