The MP for Northumberland-Peterborough South Philip Lawrence is proud to have been part of what he calls a “constructive opposition”.
Looking back on 2020 the Conservative MP says his party pushed the governing Liberals to do better for people in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Initially the Liberals pushed foward a 10% wage subsidy but we said that wasn’t nearly enough to keep Canadians employed so we pushed that up to 75%.”
The Conservatives also got changes to improve rent subsidies and moved faster on providing Personal Protective Equipment and closing the US – Canada border to travellers.
