The province is giving Quinte Health Care an extra boost in funding this year from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
MPP Todd Smith announced an allocation of just over $1.4 million on Tuesday, with that money going to support hospital maintenance and repairs.
QHC’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Brad Harrington says the total allocation this year is an increase of more than $226,000 from last year and will support projects like a heating boiler replacement at Trenton Memorial Hospital, dry sprinkler replacement at North Hastings Hospital and fire alarm panel upgrades at Belleville General Hospital.
In his news release, Smith also noted that the province remains committed to modernizing health care in Prince Edward County and is continuing to support QHC’s redevelopment plan for a new hospital in Picton.
Ontario is investing $175 million this year towards maintenance, upgrades and repairs, at 129 hospitals province-wide.
